In a fervent display of community activism, students from JNV Williamnagar embarked on a signature drive and rally to raise awareness about the perils of tobacco consumption. This concerted effort, spanning from the school campus to Station Market via Samgong Market, conducted as part of the Adult Education Program (AEP) under the guidance of Ms. Licia L Nongrum, school's staff nurse and in charge of AEP in collaboration with pace-setting activities of the school led by dedicated teachers, exemplified the collective determination to foster a tobacco-free Meghalaya. Armed with posters carrying compelling messages, the students engaged with members of the community, urging them to pledge their support by signing the campaign banner. After collecting signatures from enthusiastic supporters, the students transformed the campaign banner into a powerful symbol of unity. Adorned with posters and signatures, the banner served as a testament to the collective resolve of the community to combat tobacco addiction. The banner was prominently displayed at a petrol pump near the market, ensuring that it reached a wide audience. Passersby were encouraged to add their signatures to the growing list of supporters, further amplifying the message. Recognizing the efforts and dedication of the participants, refreshments were provided to all the students and teachers involved in the campaign. The initiative undertaken by the students of JNV Williamnagar reflects their dedication to creating a healthier, tobacco-free environment for themselves and future generations.
