PM SHRI School JNV East Garo Hills Observes Samvidhan Hatya Diwas : A Solemn Tribute to the Spirit of the Constitution and a Reflection on the Emergency of 1975
On the morning of 25th June 2025, PM SHRI School JNV East Garo Hills, stood in collective remembrance and reflection as it observed Samvidhan Hatya Diwas—a day etched in the annals of Indian history as a grim reminder of democratic eclipse.
The special morning assembly was marked by a deep sense of reverence as the school community gathered to commemorate the day when, in 1975, a state of Emergency was declared across the nation. This period, spanning 21 months, saw a suspension of fundamental rights, press censorship, and the undermining of constitutional values—leading historians and citizens alike to remember it as the 'Darkest Hour of Indian Democracy'.
Mr. Shivam, PGT History, delivered a powerful and evocative address that brought to life the historical gravity of the day.
Following this, the Principal, Mr. Ravi Kant, offered a profound reflection on the enduring importance of constitutional integrity. He articulated how 25th June 1975 came to be remembered as Samvidhan Hatya Diwas—the Day of Constitutional Murder—underscoring the need for eternal vigilance in a democratic society.
The assembly concluded with a solemn silence—an acknowledgment of the past and a pledge for the future. It served as an eye-opener for the students, instilling in them a sense of constitutional awareness and a renewed commitment to democratic ideals.
