Breaking the Stigma: Menstrual Awareness Workshop at JNV EGH on International Women's Day

In a progressive step towards breaking taboos surrounding menstruation  and fostering understanding, JNV Williamnagar organized a comprehensive menstrual awareness workshop on International Women's Day in the smart lab. Led by a dynamic team comprising Ms. Disha Yadav (TGT Physical Education), Ms. Licia L Nongrum (Staff nurse), Ms. Tumpa Saha (TGT Librarian), and Ms. Isita Som (TGT English), the workshop aimed to empower young girls with knowledge and confidence regarding menstrual health and hygiene.  The workshop commenced with an open and inclusive discussion, creating a safe space for students to share their experiences, questions, and concerns surrounding menstruation. The facilitators, drawing from their diverse expertise, addressed common misconceptions and myths, debunking stigma and fostering a culture of openness and acceptance. Practical demonstrations facilitated by the nurse provided valuable insights into hygiene routines and techniques. Through interactive presentations and informative sessions, students were equipped with essential knowledge about the menstrual cycle, menstrual hygiene practices, and the importance of proper sanitation and disposal methods.  The workshop not only promoted menstrual health but also contributed to the broader goal of gender equality and empowerment.
