On June 21, 2024, JNV Williamnagar celebrated the 10th World Yoga Day with great enthusiasm and vigor. The event, which aimed to promote health and wellness through the practice of yoga, saw active participation from both students and teachers. The entire school community gathered  on the school assembly ground, which was meticulously prepared for the occasion. Yoga Mats were laid out in neat rows, and a serene atmosphere was created with calming music.
This year’s event was uniquely special as it was guided by a dedicated group of students led by Khushi Kumari Poddar a student from class IX, renowned for her yoga skills and leadership. Khushi, and Sterya Marak (classIX) along with her team, meticulously planned and executed the sessions, ensuring that participants of all levels could follow along and benefit from the exercises. Sterya began the session with a brief introduction to the history and significance of World Yoga Day. She highlighted how yoga, an ancient practice, has gained global recognition and is celebrated for promoting physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
The yoga sessions commenced with a series of warm-up exercises to prepare the body. Khushi and her team demonstrated various asanas (postures), including: Vrikshasana (Tree Pose), Tadasana (Mountain Pose) etc. Each pose was demonstrated with clarity, and modifications were suggested for beginners.
The active participation of students and teachers made the day a memorable one, reinforcing the importance of yoga in achieving a balanced and healthy lifestyle. The success of the event underscored the school's commitment to promoting wellness and unity through the practice of yoga.
