On August 8, 2024, the National Centre for Vector Borne Disease Control (NCVBDC), in collaboration with the Office of the District Malaria Officer, East Garo Hills, Meghalaya, carried out a significant public health initiative at JNV Williamnagar. The program involved the distribution of long-lasting insecticide-treated nets (LLINs) to students and staff, marking a significant effort in the fight against malaria.
The LLINs, known for their effectiveness in repelling and killing mosquitoes, are a key tool in reducing malaria transmission. By equipping the students and staff of JNV Williamnagar with these nets, the initiative seeks to protect and promote healthier living environments.
During the event, representatives from the NCVBDC and the District Malaria Office distributed the nets and delivered speech on their effective use and maintenance. Emphasis was placed on the importance of using LLINs consistently and properly to maximize their protective benefits.
This collaborative effort highlights the essential role of both national and local health authorities in addressing vector-borne diseases.
